Local Authorities Investigating Gunshots

The Henry County Sheriffs Office is investigating reports of damage to vehicles in the rural Lynn Center area of Henry County that appear to have been caused by gunshots.  Incidents have been reported on Township roads east of Rt 150 near the Edwards River. A small number of drivers passing through this area at various times have thought their vehicles were hit by a rock, only to later find what appear to be bullet holes in their vehicles.

This is a dangerous situation, and the public is advised to be alert when driving, especially in the affected area. If you have driven in this area, or anywhere else in Henry County, and have found damage to your vehicle that could be a bullet hole, please contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and report it. While it may be accidental in nature, any time a firearm is discharged it can have unforeseen consequences.

Currently there is no known connection between these incidents and recent similar events reported in the QC metro area.

Cambridge Memorial Park Suffers Damage

On the morning of Saturday, December 27, 2014, damage was found to the flag display at the Memorial Park in Cambridge, IL. The suspect or suspects had cut the ropes on eight flag poles, allowing the flags to remain flying but with their ropes on the ground. A United States flag was missing from the park, but was found later discarded near the city sewer plant on Rt. 81. All eight flag poles had to be re-strung, along with other repairs.
