Authorities Investigating Stolen German Shepherd

Henry County authorities are investigating the disappearance of a German Shepherd from its owner’s residence near Alpha, IL on September 26, 2011. The German Shepherd, named Hex, disappeared as his owner was carrying out the weekly trash at his residence. The owner reported seeing a white full-size van leaving the area at the time of the disappearance.

Hex is described as a friendly, seven year old German Shepherd male with a metal collar and an ID tattoed inside his left ear and is also micro-chipped. He has won many awards both locally and nationally.

Authorities are asking anyone who has any information about this crime to call the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at 309-937-3911. Burglary at Local Shool Being Investigated

Kewanee Police are investigating a burglary to the Belle Alexander Elementary School at 1401 Lake St. The burglary is believed to have occurred during the overnight hours of Monday, Sept. 19 into Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011. The school has not yet determined what was taken and staff are reviewing inventory and security camera recordings. Entry was made by breaking a window on the south side of the school.

Local Burglaries Being Investigated

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating four daytime burglaries that began at mid-day on Tuesday, July 26, 2011.

Three of the locations burglarized were north of Annawan on Baker School Road and one was north of Cambridge on Liken Road.

Investigators believe all four crimes are related.

Forcible entry was found in each case, with damage done inside the homes and items taken.

Local Authorities Need Your Help Against Burglaries

Several burglaries have been reported recently in rural Henry County, some during daytime hours. Typical items are being taken, such as electronics, but also in at least one incident several guns were taken. There are no suspects, and authorities need your help to solve these crimes. If you see anything suspicious, either on your property or that of a neighbor, please call 9-1-1 immediately to report it. If you have seen something suspicious, but it is not currently in progress, call the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at 309-937-3911. Be observant, but don’t confront anyone suspicious if at all possible.

Residents are reminded that many tricks are used by burglars in order to have the best chance of success. Crime Stoppers recommends that you do not open your door for any stranger. If someone claims to need help, pick up the phone and call 9-1-1. If someone claims to be selling something, ask for their name and who they represent and tell them to leave their information outside your door. Be observant, and try to get descriptions of any persons or vehicles that are involved, and a direction of travel if they leave. If they don’t leave, call 9-1-1 to report what is happening. Don’t let anyone at your door talk you into doing otherwise.

Couple Suspected in Theft

Kewanee Police need your help in identifying a couple who are suspected of stealing money from a local laundromat and who may have committed similar crimes in other towns. Police say and man and a woman entered the Midtown Coin Laundry on Burr Boulevard in Kewanee on January 27th, 2011 between 6 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.

Surveillance video shows the man manipulating a change machine to steal around $300 in quarters while the woman acted as a lookout.

The woman was wearing a black coat and a gray “old Navy” sweatshirt. The man was wearing an “East Coast Choppers” sweatshirt. Police believe they were driving a maroon Ford Windstar Van.

Theft of Guns Investigated

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of a large quantity of guns from a rural Geneseo residence.

Sometime before Wednesday, November 10, 2010 a rural Geneseo residence was entered and several guns were taken, including handguns, rifles, and a shotgun. Also taken was a laptop computer.

Stolen guns are one of the greatest threats to public safety, and often end up in the hands of criminals. Motorcycle, ATV Thefts

Authorities need your help in solving two thefts in our county.

In October of 2009 a motorcycle was taken from a garage near the intersection of SE 1st Ave. and SE 5th St. in Galva, IL. Taken was a green and yellow 2006 Kawasaki KX-450 motocross racing bike. It had racing decals and gold rims. This distinctive motorcycle is designed for racing and had the number 169 to identify it during competition.

Another theft that needs your help occurred in December of 2009 in the 4300 Blk of IL Hwy 82 south of Cambridge, IL. Taken from a garage was a green Kawasaki 750cc Brute Force ATV with a gun rack.
