Hit and Run Accident Results in Fatality

UPDATE – ARREST MADE

Deondray M. Dearing, 23, of Toulon, was arrested by Kewanee Police on Monday, Sept. 19, 2011 on charges related to the hit and run accident that took the life o f 40 year old Albino DaSilva of Kewanee. Dearing has been charged with leaving the scene of an injury or fatal accident and was taken to the Henry County Jail. According to police, the case remains under investigation.

Kewanee police are investigating a hit and run accident that occurred in the 300 block of Tenney St. at approximately 10:40 PM on Friday, September 16, 2011, where a car had struck a bicycle. The accident resulted in the death of the cyclist, 40 year old Albino M. DaSilva of Kewanee.

The car fled the scene of the accident and was last seen travelling south in the 400 block of Tenney St. Police describe the car as a Techno Gray metallic color 2008 or 2009 Chevrolet Malibu. It may have visible damage on the front passenger side. Witnesses stated the driver left the scene without stopping.

Kewanee Police are seeking your help in identifying the driver and in locating the car involved in this fatal accident.

Police are asking that anyone who can identify the driver, or who has any information about the vehicle, to call the Kewanee Police Department at 309-853-1911. Hit and Run Driver Injures Local Youth

Authorities need your help in locating the driver of a vehicle that left the scene of an accident on the afternoon of Friday, August 19, 2011 in Kewanee, IL.

According to Kewanee Police, a tan or brownish colored car struck an 11-year old boy riding a bicycle in the 500 block of E. 1st St. in Kewanee at around 3:00 PM on Friday. The vehicle then turned down an alley and left the area. The victim had to be transported by helicopter ambulance to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria after suffering head injuries as a result of the accident.
